Your skin naturally has a slightly acidic pH (around 4.5–5.5). This “acid mantle” protects the skin barrier and keeps bacteria in balance.

Many natural deodorants use baking soda, magnesium hydroxide, or zinc oxide — all strongly alkaline ingredients. While these can neutralise odour, they can also disrupt the skin’s natural acidity, which may lead to irritation, rashes, or dryness.

The Oasis Oat Cream Deodorant works very differently.

Healthy perspiration is almost odourless. The familiar smell of “sweat” is created when friendly bacteria on the skin’s surface react with enzymes in our perspiration.

Most natural deodorants work by shifting the pH of the skin to stop this reaction — often using alkaline ingredients such as baking soda, magnesium hydroxide, or zinc oxide.
