This is the wiring as used in the earliest guitars build by Leo Fender and can give you that typical early Tele sound….and a bit more.
This is also the wiring that is supposed to still sit in Keith Richards Micawber Telecaster. The yellow one with the lap steel pickup and the PAF and the missing string π
The 3-way blade switch has the fiollowing functionality:
1 Neck pickup with dark sound cap engaged
2 Neck pickup alone
3 Bridge pickup with the blend pot engaged so that the neck pickup can be mixed together with the bridge pickup.
For some (or maybe most) people nowadays the original dark sound is much too dark.
In this wiring the dark sound is adjustable to the musicians personal taste!
By flipping the switches on the back of the volume pot the dark sound can be altered to three different brighter, more modern sounds.
The 15K Ohm resistor on the switch, used to lower the volume of the neck pickup in blend mode, is replaced with a trimpot to adapt this volume to your own unique pickup combination. It is marked where the value is 15K.
The blend pot is much improved with a modern taper that has all the tonal diversity spread evenly over the entire sweep of the pot rather than all bunched up on one end.
Comes standard on a chrome, or nickel plate. Black, gold, nickel aged can be custom ordered.
Can be ordered without a plate when you want to reuse the existing control plate of your instrument.
The plates are built with high quality components Goto thin brass control plates, Bourns Pro Audio potentiometers (audio an reversed audio taper), vintage style cloth covered wire, Xicon and Nichicon resistors and capacitors, lead-free solder.
Comes with a wiring schematic
If sold out please ask for availability.
For leftys: please ask for a custom order. No extra costs!
