The standard 3-way Telecaster circuit can be expanded to a huge amount of extra tonal variety using a 5-way switch.

The 5-way switch has the 3 standard settings:
-bridge
-bridge and neck wired in parallel
-neck

The two extra settings offer:
-both pickups wired in series for a fat loud sound
-both pickups wired half out of phase for a slightly mid scooped funky sound. A capacitor prevents the scooping of too much bass, creating a very nice and light sound.

The series setting delivers a fat, loud humbucker sound for lead and for pushing tube amps, fuzzes and drive pedals.
The half out of phase setting adds a sound on the other end of the sectrum. Softer with slightly scooped mids. A capacitor keeps the bottom end intact creating a very nice and light sound.

The extra sounds are fantastic for cleaning up or switching to instant overdriven lead sound without touching the pedalboard.

Materials used are high quality:
Schaller 5-way switches that fit in every normal sized Telecaster control cavity.
Bourns pro audio and CTS
Cornell Dublier/Mallory 150 series tone capacitors

Can be bought as a loom only or mounted on a Telecaster control plate.
An additional option is replacing the traditional tone pot with the 12-step V12G tone control.
When turned off this adds extra twang.
In 11 steps it lowers the pickup's resonant frequency, with every step reducing a bit of the highs and adding mids.

I normally use pots with metric push-on knobs.
If you want to use 1/4 inch knobs with a set screw you will want to custom order the plate with pots with 1/4 inch plain shafts.

Schaller knobs with set screw are 6mm and fit split shaft pots.
