The Esquire is one of the oldest Telecasters.

With only one pickup the Esquire seems like a one trick pony but it has been a very popular guitar for some reasons:

The main reason is the lack of pull from a second pickup which increases sustain and generally improves the sound.
The second reason is that the Esquire has a position where the tone control circuits are all bypassed, resulting in some extra twang and brightness.
Less is certainly more here.

Leo Fender had a dark sound installed in position 3 of the 3-way switch supposedly to mimic the sound of an upright bass.
The 3-way blade switch has the following functionality:
1 Only volume active. No tone controls.
2 Volume and tone pot active
3 Volume and dark sound active.

As the dark sound may not be very useful for modern music I added 4 jumper switches with extra capacitors on the back of the volume pot with which you can alter the original dark sound to much less dark and way more modern sounds. With 16 options there must be a useful sound for everyone and of course the original dark sound is also still available 😉

Comes standard on a chrome, or nickel plate.

The plates are built with high quality components, Gotoh control plates, Bourns Pro Audio potentiometers, vintage style cloth covered wire, Xicon and Nichicon resistors and capacitors, lead-free solder.
